09/16/2026 ATTENTION STOCKPORT RESIDENTS:
We’ve experienced a drop in the effectiveness of our disinfection system. This has allowed chlorine levels to fall to less than desired levels.
As a precautionary measure we are implementing a boil water notice.
We need two consecutive days of bacteriological testing before notice can be lifted.
Samples will be taken tomorrow and Friday and noticed is expected to be lifted Saturday.

Submitting a report does not guarantee FEMA assistance, but it helps New York State assess the overall impact of the storm. If the damage is significant enough, New York State may request a Presidential Disaster Declaration, which is required before any FEMA Assistance can be considered.
Please note that this reporting tool is only for damage to homes and businesses. Damage to public buildings, roads, bridges, and other public infrastructure is reported through a separate process by local governments and a limited number of eligible nonprofit organizations.

Stuyvesant and Stockport Repair Cafe.pdfThe of Stockport Sewer Department will be taking proactive steps to address inflow and infiltration (I&I) within both the Stottville and Kings Acres Sewer Districts. This effort is part of an ongoing commitment to maintain reliable infrastructure, protect the environment, and control rising wastewater treatment costs.
Inflow and infiltration occurs when stormwater or groundwater enters the sanitary sewer collection system through sources such as foundation drains, sump pumps, roof downspouts, cracked collection pipes, cracked/damaged sewer manholes or faulty rim seals . During heavy rain events or snowmelt, this excess water can overwhelm the sewer treatment system, leading to increased treatment costs, potential system backups, and unnecessary strain on municipal infrastructure.
Therefore, reducing inflow and infiltration helps prevent sewer overflows, protects our waterways, and keeps utility costs manageable for our residents.
Work is scheduled to begin mid June and the duration is anticipated to be three or four weeks. Specifically, our Town Engineer (CPL) will be working with our Town Sewer Department and Arold Construction to clean and camera the sewer infrastructure. At this time there is no need for entry into private homes or business. However, you will see crews in the streets accessing sewer manholes and perhaps accessing sewer manholes off street that are located within existing sewer easements.
The Town of Stockport is looking for residents of the town who are interested in being members of a Climate Smart Communities Task Force.
The Town Board adopted the NYS Climate Smart Communities (CSC) pledge on March 10th, 2026. One of the first steps the town can take to implement the pledge is to establish a CSC Task Force.
The purpose of the CSC task force is to promote and support climate mitigation and adaption actions in the community. The CSC task force is an advisory committee that collaborates with the town board to develop and promote plans, programs, and activities that are part of the CSC Certification program.
