Masten Park, located in the Town of Stockport, is a 14-acre park that was built on vacant land donated by longtime resident Arthur Masten, Sr. and sold to the town in memory of Mr. Masten at a nominal cost in 1990. The full plans for Masten Park have included a playground for children ages 2 to 12, a pavilion with a kitchen and restrooms, a walking trail, a basketball court, and a soccer field. Masten Park primarily serves 770 families and 2,900 residents of all ages who live in the Town of Stockport.

The Town of Stockport has completed Phase I and part of Phase II of their Town Park Master Plan project. The playground, soccer field, pavilion and an overlook deck along the Stockport Creek have been completed. The structure and roof of the 30 x 90 community pavilion were completed in 2016 utilizing volunteers to install roof and structural bracing. With financial assistance from Hudson River Bank and Trust in 2017, the concrete slab, plumbing and electrical work were also completed. Due to COVID-19, however, all events in 2020 were cancelled, and the playground and soccer field were closed off to the public.

The pavilion at Masten Park was constructed solely using volunteer labor. Matt’s Signs, a local sign making business located in the Town of Stockport, has generously donated signage to the Town, Masten Park and for a variety of events.Stay

The playground constructed in 2017 was installed by volunteers and paid for with funds raised by former Town Board member, Ron Rich, in the amount of $28,000. Mr. Rich went as far as driving to Alabama to the factory where the playground equipment was manufactured to pick up the equipment in order to save the Town of Stockport delivery charges.
